Friday was Riley’s last day of 3rd grade. I think for the most part he had a great year. His teacher, Ms. Salvati was awesome. We kept in contact all the time regarding Riley’s progress and/or behavior. So far she’s been the best teacher he’s had.
Though Riley’s report cards were all B’s for the end of the school year, he called me so excited last week that he made 100 on his Math TAKS and 92 on the reading TAKS! So I know the boy is smart and CAN do the work! Next year I’m going to stay on top of it!
Riley will start summer camp next week through the city of Round Rock. He went last year and he had a blast. He’s not thrilled it’s a new location this year but he’ll get used to it. They are so busy and go on a field trip 4 out of the 5 days. This week he’s staying with PaPa Roger and Grandma Lori and hanging with Joshua. They are swimming alot. Riley should have a pretty good tan (or burn) when he comes home!
This past week we had cousin Hailey’s 1st Birthday party. Jeremy, Riley & Karli had a great time jumping in the pink bounce house LOL It took Karli some time to get in but she finally did and loved it.
Here’s a picture of Riley & Karli being silly. She went and sat behind him on the couch and was squeezing his neck with her feet. Riley tried to pretend he wasn’t happy about it but he laughed. You can see her little sarcastic face :D
We also had the McKamie family reunion Sunday. It was hot but the kids had a great time. Riley swam alot with the other kids and Karli & Ollie played together… until Ollie left, then mommy had to chase Karli all around the house and outside. The car ride to Weimer wasn’t so bad and Karli & Ollie played on their laptops. Riley got a little fussy because he wasn’t comfortable but he was ok after. Aunt Teri took some family pictures so when I get those I will post a copy up!
In health news, Karli had a checkup with the eye dr yesterday. Her lazy eye is not as severe as it was a few months ago, however, it is still present. Dr. Onan went ahead and dilated her eyes to see if she was still near sited and had a astigmatism. She isn’t as near sited as she was at 10 months old but the astigmatism is still there. So Dr. Onan suggested we try glasses for a little while along with the eye patching every day. If she refuses to wear the glasses or after a few weeks we see more than 20% of eye drifting, she is going to require surgery. I do not want to do surgery on my baby’s eye unless we have exhausted all other options. She’s been patching since she was 10 months old and here she is 2 1/2 and it’s still present, and now in the right eye.
So Grandma Wilson and I are going to go today to get Karli fitted for glasses. OH JOY this should be so much fun! It’s pretty costly to ‘hope’ it works but it’s not as much as surgery and less invasive. Ms. Alondra is wonderful and will help me work with her on the glasses. She does the eye patching now. I’ll post pictures when she gets the glasses, and if she will wear them.
Riley should be starting his therapy next week and will go every other week. This should help him with his ADHD and tourettes symptoms. He’s having alot more tics lately and has had some other issues. I’m real worried about him so please pray things work out in his favor. It breaks my hear to see him going through so much. He’s having trouble sleeping lately too. At Grandma Lori’s he was up til 4am playing Nintendo?!?!. They forgot to give him his night time medicine so I think after that she’ll remember. :D
