Wednesday, May 18th, Karli had a very busy day. She had to go in for a VCUG to check to see if she still has urinary reflux. Karli got up at 5:30am and I had to get her to eat before 6. She ate some fritos :)
Grandma Wilson came to pick us up and take Riley to school, then we went to the park and tried to get some energy out before we had to be at the Dr at 10am.

I chose to have Karli sedated this round because last time it was hard to have to hold her down while she kicked and screamed. Aunt Jen went with us to that visit. So we arrive at the place and they walk us back. Karli did great! She got on the scale, picked
out a Dora movie, let us change her into a gown and take her vitals. The sedative was an oral medication and she took it down like nothing. They told us she probably wouldn’t go to sleep but droopy enough where she wouldn’t know what was going on. It also has an amnesia affect. So the lights go off, Karli & I sit on the bed and she’s playing and watching Dora. Later I see her look slowly at the wall, then turn to me and grandma and grin. You could tell the medicine was working. It was quite funny.
Time to go into the xray room and she layed down just fine. She did cry some but did quite well. It took her a little while to pee but when she did we were all done. We expected her to go to sleep shortly after because afterall, she’d been up since 5:30am, been to the park, crying and had sedation. NOPE. Back in the room they check her vitals, give her goldfish and juice to make sure she holds it down. Not long after she made a face and was spitting out goldfish. I moved them and she freaked out. Throwing everything, scratching me, screaming. Yes, Karli has a temper. But right when the EMT was letting us go, he said “oh, by the way, there could be a side affect of anger like you can hear in the kid next door, but we’d have seen that in her by now.” Mom and I told them we had already. It didn’t last long…… until it was time to walk out and she wanted to walk. Too drowsy to walk so I had to pick her up and she screamed and kicked all the way out the door. The nurse had to bring me her shoes. We waited in the hallway while Grandma took urine sample upstairs. People were looking at me like wow, that kid is so bad. She was soooo loud, kicking and screaming and rolling all over the floor. I had to even carry her to the car which was a few blocks away. It was very exhausting! Well after that we grabbed a bite to eat and visited the pets at Petsmart. Karli then had to have an ultrasound to check out her kidneys and then to see the Urologist. She did pretty well with the ultrasound. The tech was great! Once in the exam room she was eating more goldfish then boom, I look down and she was out. This was after 3pm.
SO The results, Karli still has urinary reflux but is now between stage 1-2 vs a 2. There are 4 stages. The Dr feels it will correct on its own so no surgery is needed and unless she haves more UTIs, she will not need another VCUG. We go back in a year to follow up.
This is grandma and Karli playing at the park after the appointment. You can see she’s still kinda out of it
Here is a pic of Riley. He has his fake vampire teeth in and some finger claws he made out of paper. He was a warewolf all night. He woke up this morning and put them on again. Needless to say it was a little annoying :)
I'm glad you had a good report from the dr karli! I hope you don't have to go thru that again. Ollie asks if you can come spend the night all the time! Last night when I gave him his vitamin he wanted one for karli too! Hope he gets better soon so we can come play!
